ICTSI Global Legal holds TEA time session with PNG terminals


 

The ICTSI Global Corporate Legal Affairs (GCLA) Department conducted its first online terminal exposure awareness (TEA) time session with South Pacific International Container Terminal (SPICT) and Motukea International Terminal (MIT) on 12 September.

Spearheaded by Atty. Mark Acoymo, ICTSI GCLA senior counsel, the session was attended by representatives from both terminals’ operations, commercial and safety departments. Atty. Acoymo discussed the legal implications of cargo custody, the associated legal exposures, and general risk mitigation measures such as the evidentiary value of Bills of Lading, among other key topics. 

The session presented participants with real-world scenarios to provide them with provide practical, relatable insights. It also facilitated interactive discussions that drew on the participants’ operational experience to help the terminals develop strategies in adopting lower-risk practices.

The TEA Time session is part of GCLA’s Legal Education arm under its e-Academy initiative. The program aims to raise operational responsibility and legal exposure awareness among terminal personnel. Initially launched across the ICTSI Group’s major Philippine terminals, the program has now entered its international phase, beginning with ICTSI Group’s global terminals.
