ICTSI deploys Health and Safety Management framework

Following the official rollout of the Health and Safety Management (HSM) framework document across the ICTSI Group via the Enterprise Hub (Enterprise Document Release) on 2 April, ICTSI Global HSSE conducted a series of briefing sessions with terminal HSE teams last month to facilitate the implementation of the HSM framework at the terminal level.
The HSM framework document was initially presented to senior officers during the Senior Management Meeting on 12 March. The framework was developed based on the ISO 45001:2018 standard Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems, and is designed to provide a practical risk-based health and safety management system for all terminals and operating sites. The system not only helps ensure regulatory compliance, but also promotes a positive health and safety culture. It fosters continuous improvement to the organization’s health and safety performance.
The HSM framework contains 10 key elements that are considered industry best practices for addressing the health and safety risks within an organization like ICTSI: Leadership and Accountability; Risk Management; Regulation and Policies; Contractor Safety Management; Training and Development; Standard Operating Procedures and Consultation; Emergency Management; Incident Reporting, Investigation and Prevention; and Audits, Inspections and Continuous Improvement. Under each element are practical and risk-based performance requirements or minimum expectations that every terminal or operating site needs to comply with.
Part of the deployment is the assessment of the terminal/operating site’s fulfillment of performance requirements. Hence, all terminals will conduct a gap analysis using the HSM self-assessment tool/checklist. The results will be used as basis for the terminal’s respective health and safety improvement plans for attaining full compliance with the ICTSI HSM performance requirements within a reasonable timeframe.
