PICT welcomes two new services
Two new services, the China India West Coast X-Press (CWX) and the Karachi Jebel Ali Shuttle Service, have started calling Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT) at the Port of Karachi in November.
PICT welcomed the inaugural call of the newly introduced CWX service led by Xpress Feeders, KMTC and T.S. Lines with the maiden call of MV Barbara, which has an LOA of 294 meters and capacity of 5,470 TEUs. To commemorate the occasion, Captain Daniel Bucurestianu, Vessel Master was presented with a plaque on behalf of the management. The service routes through Shanghai – Ningbo – Shekou – Singapore – Port Klang – Nhava Sheva – Karachi [PICT] – Mundra – Colombo – Port Klang – Hong Kong – Shanghai. With this service, PICT customers will have improved port coverage for their cargo.

Considering the existing market demand, the service will provide our customers an efficient ease of access to various markets in the associated regions of ports of calls. With this service, we expect to seek an overwhelming response from the market,” says Khurram Khan, PICT Chief Executive Officer.
The MV Barbara at PICT
Catering to the growing demand in the Gulf region, Wan Hai Lines’ and Global Feeders’ Karachi Jebel Ali Shuttle Service also made its inaugural call at PICT with the arrival of the 1,794-TEU boxship AS SICILIA. Through this service, PICT foresees stronger trade patronage in the Gulf market by handling increased cargo through Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers and Mainline Operators.
Mr. Khurram says: “With the commencement of Karachi Jebel Ali Shuttle Sevice, PICT looks forward to enhance its Gulf cluster of services, which will provide our customers with increasingly frequent vessel connections between Karachi and Jebel Ali.”
PICT also held a simple ceremony to celebrate the maiden call of the Karachi Jebel Ali Shuttle Service and presented Captain Sergiy, AS SICILIA Vessel Master, with a commemorative plaque.
