MMT deploys new fall protection safety device

Manila Multipurpose Terminal (MMT) recently introduced a safety initiative in its operations – the deployment of fall arrest bags, marking the first use of such technology in the Philippines.

The specially designed cushions are intended to minimize the impact of falls and enhance protection for personnel working at heights. The device offers a practical and time-efficient solution in areas where traditional fall control measures are less feasible, enhancing operational safety.

Manufactured by UK-based Fall-Pac, the fall arrest bags are lightweight and filled with polystyrene material. This allows for quick deployment and easy handling. The bags can be interconnected to cover a wider surface area, providing enhanced safety. Each layer is engineered to absorb impact and minimize injuries from falls.

As part of the Mag Malasakit Tayo safety initiative, MMT trained its staff to use and deploy the fall arrest bags. This proactive measure demonstrates the company’s commitment to safeguarding employees and fostering a culture of safety. Moving forward, MMT continues to evaluate and improve its safety practices.
