Menandro Cariaga, security head, and Aris Palayad, security operations manager, represented MICT at the workshop held at the Shangri-La the Fort in Manila. The workshop looked to enhance coordination, cooperation and interoperability between the public and private sectors in managing potential crises in port environments. Discussions covered port incidents and risks, their potential impact, risk management strategies and legal frameworks in responding to crises in line with the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code. Facilitators from the United Kingdom also shared best practices in risk management, including the METHANE incident reporting framework (Major incident, Exact location, Type of incident, Hazards, Access, Number of Casualties, Emergency services).

Through workshops like this, the MICT continues to strengthen its security measures and align with global standards in port crisis management
