ICTSI flagship passes ISO surveillance audit

The Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) has successfully maintained its ISO 9001:2015 – Quality Management System (QMS), ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental Management (EM), and ISO 45001:2018 – Occupational Health and Safety Management (OHS) with no major non-conformities noted after a stringent surveillance audit of its Integrated Management Systems (IMS) last March.

ICTSI-MICT received the certification after going through the remote surveillance audit conducted by third-party auditor SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. amid the mobility challenges brought about by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Anders Dømmestrup, MICT Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, welcomed the results of the 2021 IMS Audit: “I am very proud that we have retained the coveted ISO certifications for MICT. This is positive proof of the improvements we have implemented over the past year to maintain the highest level of quality service for our customers and stakeholders, while ensuring the health and safety of our teams.”

He adds: “I thank and congratulate the MICT teams for their work and cooperation in helping us achieve this. We especially commend the IMS Project Team led by Tom Goodwin, Liezzel Aquino, and the expanded auditors’ team for the extraordinary work they have put in towards a job well done.”

During the virtual audit, SOCOTEC commended ICTSI for its strong management commitment to continual improvement, which was very evident in the support and workplace adjustments implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic. They noted some improvement areas, particularly on risk assessments, environmental monitoring, and the internal audit process, which are all being addressed already as a team. All audit findings shall be closed out and verification will be conducted by SOCOTEC on the second annual surveillance audit scheduled on November this year.

Compliance to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 ensures that MICT operates with high-level quality of service, strong customer focus, robust health and safety management of workers and stakeholders, and environmentally sound and improved overall performance.

MICT, as part of its commitment to the LIFT (lead, instill, foster, and train) principle, shall continue to operate and comply with all applicable laws and regulations to meet and exceed customer expectations.
