Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana’s (OPC) is making good progress with its environmental conservation efforts after as its reforestation program successfully planted 20,000 trees across Puerto Cortés to date.
Last 30 May, the Company joined students, employees, volunteers and personnel from the local environment department for a tree planting activity at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Institute. Five hundred out of the 20,000 trees were planted at the institute and surrounding communities during the activity, which was done in celebration of the National Day of the Tree.
“One of the programs that OPC carries out within its environmental pillar is reforestation, so in commemoration of the National Day of the Tree last 30 May, we carried out a tree planting campaign,” said Meyvi Castañeda, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager.
The reforestation program, which involves coordination with the local community, is part of the Company’s shared value strategy since OPC started its concession.
