VICT hits 1 million TEUs
Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT) is capping off the year with another milestone with its handling of one million TEUs – its highest single-year throughput since starting operations in 2017.
VICT celebrated the achievement with an all-Australian barbecue to recognize the dedicated effort, operational excellence and remarkable contributions of its staff throughout the year. The record follows the boost in the terminal’s service lineup, namely the addition of the reinstated Wallaby Express Service, which deployed 10 2,700- to 5,000- TEU capacity ships, and the enhancement of the existing Australia New Zealand Express service into a weekly service.
Above all, VICT has become the largest container terminal in Melbourne based on volume with a 38 percent market share.
The terminal reported near-breaking figures in October after exchanging 100,000 TEUs and handling greater volumes—some exceeding 4,000 moves—despite frequent rotation changes due to port congestions in Sydney.
VICT, as part of the ICTSI Group, remains committed to continuously investing in its workforce, infrastructure, operation and equipment, to deliver excellent service to customers.
