VICT highlights safety, innovation at CTAA seminar
Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT) participated in the recent Safe Container Loading & Transport Practices seminar organized by the Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA) at Yarraville Club.
Representing VICT, Rea Mihaka, Landside Operations manager, and Marco Quaranta, Communications and Sustainability manager, collaborated with fellow industry stakeholders and regulatory authorities to discuss key advancements in container safety.
Mihaka presented VICT’s leading-edge safety and technology solutions, emphasizing their role in enhancing operational efficiency and safety. Among these advancements is the Automatic Container Weighing System, which ensures precise weight verification for each container to reinforce safe handling and transport practices.
Mihaka also highlighted VICT’s Optical Character Recognition System, which verifies vehicles and containers upon arrival. The system aligns them with specific bookings while simultaneously inspecting container integrity. This technology also enables the early detection of issues, such as bulging or visible damage, further supporting safety and reliability in terminal operations.
VICT extends its gratitude to Director Neil Chambers and the CTAA for orchestrating this insightful event and orchestrating an industry-wide commitment to improved safety practices. VICT is committed to contributing to the industry’s advancement, continuously investing in proactive safety and technologies.
