Upgraded vessel fenders improve safety at BGT

BGT’s upgraded vessel fenders are designed to absorb greater kinetic energy from larger ships, safeguarding vessels and the berth from damage during docking maneuvers.

Basra Gateway Terminal (BGT) has upgraded its quayside infrastructure by installing new and more robust vessel fenders in response to the increasing sizes of ships that call the Port of Umm Qasr. 

As older fender systems degrade over time, their effectiveness diminish, potentially compromising safety.  These new, advanced fenders are designed to enhance safety and efficiency by minimizing the impact of docking vessels, thereby protecting both the vessels and the port infrastructure. They utilize advanced materials and technology, ensuring better energy absorption during docking operations.

This upgrade reflects BGT’s continuing commitment to maintaining a high standard for its infrastructure, crucial for the safe and efficient loading and discharging of cargo.
