Rio Brasil Terminal (RBT) reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by participating in the recent launch of the Sustainability Policy for Ports, Airports and Waterways. Spearheaded by Brazil’s Ministry of Ports and Airports, the initiative marks a significant step in promoting environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices across the country’s transport infrastructure.
Minister Silvio Costa Filho and Executive Secretary Mariana Pescatori led the event, which gathered key figures from both the public and private sectors, including Alex Avila, national secretary of Ports; Larissa Amorim, sustainability executive secretariat director; and Brazilian Association of Port Terminals representatives. The policy aims to encourage sustainable development and recognize companies dedicated to environmental and social responsibility.
As a recognized leader in ESG adoption, RBT was invited to the event and was represented by Renata Cardozo, people management and organizational development manager. By joining the Sustainability Pact of the Ministry of Ports and Airports, RBT reinforces its dedication to environmental protection, social well-being, and responsible governance, aligning its actions with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At Rio Brasil Terminal, we believe that collaboration between the private sector and the Ministry of Ports and Airports is essential to driving meaningful change in the industry and beyond. By working together, we can build a more sustainable future for Brazil’s ports, airports, and waterways.

RBT’s sustainability initiatives include use of clean-energy powered equipment, tree planting to offset carbon emissions, and social projects that improve living conditions and create opportunities for the local community.
