Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT) recently partnered with the Karachi Port Trust to support and launch the 2021 Pakistan Boat Rally & Fishing Tournament – the largest maritime competition in the country.

The tournament, officially launched at the Karachi Port’s Ferry Terminal, was attended by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Maritime Affairs Mahmood Baqi Moulvi, who was the chief guest of the event.

Held from November 19 to 23, the competition was organized to increase public awareness about the potential of the country’s coast lines, promote maritime tourism and support local fishermen and maritime communities. Competing anglers sailed 650 kilometers from Karachi to Gwadar to catch prized fishes and at the same time promote a positive image of the country’s resource-rich waters.

PICT Chief Executive Officer Khurram Aziz Khan said: “With the terminal being closely associated with the maritime industry, PICT proactively supports the government and affiliated ministries to boost sustainability in the maritime industry.

“From these waters, we have been adding business value to the economy and have been taking proactive initiatives to strengthen society with our purpose-led CSR initiatives that are especially concentrated towards port communities and unexplored frontiers along Pakistan’s coastal belt.”

As a leader in Pakistan’s port and shipping industry, PICT vows to continue delivering value-added services to the supply chain to boost the country’s maritime industry, strengthen the functions of the Port of Karachi, and help uplift the neighboring host communities.
