OPC cited for promoting good health

Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana (OPC) received the award for the best clinic in health promotion and disease prevention from the Honduran Institute of Social Security (IHSS) during the 33rd anniversary of the Business Medical System (SME) in November.

The IHSS recognizes organizations that are the most effective in promoting good health and preventing disease. OPC stood out from the 187 companies approved with the Business Medical System to win the award.

Dr. Orlando Ventura, SME regional coordinator, highlighted that having clinics approved with the SME in companies allows members to receive immediate medical attention without going to Social Security. Furthermore, promoting good health and preventing diseases help people to maintain their well-being and reduce the strain caused by decompensated patients on the institution. The IHSS is committed to providing the best service to its members and families and the SME is a tool of great benefit to all members.

Health is one of the three pillars on which OPC bases its corporate social responsibility strategies. The company is constantly looking for opportunities to contribute to improving the health and living condition of its employees and their families.
