New landside equipment for MMT
Manila Multipurpose Terminal (MMT) recently strengthened its equipment fleet with the addition of a 25-ton Konecranes forklift and a 5-ton mobile gantry crane.
These new assets will improve vessel and truck turnaround times, optimizing heavy cargo handling, and enhancing in-house maintenance capabilities. By boosting both operational efficiency and safety, MMT continues to elevate its port services and ensure smoother overall operations.
Additionally, as part of the re-fleeting program, MMT is expecting the arrival of five 16-ton forklifts equipped with specialized coil ram attachments, which will significantly enhance port handling capabilities. Two excavators fitted with a variety of attachments will also be acquired to increase versatility and efficiency in various operations. Furthermore, four mobile bulk hoppers will be introduced to expedite bulk discharging processes and significantly reduce dust emissions, thereby improving both operational efficiency and environmental compliance. These new units are slated to arrive early next year, enabling MMT to better meet the demands of its expanding operations.
Phillip Marsham, MMT executive director, stated: “MMT is steadfast in its commitment to improve overall port efficiency and safety, with the goal of providing exceptional benefits to our clients. As the economic landscape rapidly evolves, we are focused on not just keeping pace with industry developments but also setting new benchmarks for excellence. Our proactive approach aims to exceed existing industry standards, ensuring that we deliver superior performance and reliability in all aspects of our operations.”
