MMT strengthens industry ties for a more sustainable steel sector
Manila Multipurpose Terminal (MMT) reaffirmed its commitment to advancing sustainability and innovation in the steel industry by actively participating in key events and fostering collaboration with industry stakeholders.
On 19 February, MMT joined a dinner held in conjunction with the Travelling Seminar on Sustainable Smart Manufacturing and Process Automation, organized by the Philippine Iron and Steel Institute (PISI) in partnership with the Southeast Asia Iron and Steel Institute (SEASI). Attended by PISI and SEASI officials, as well as representatives from China Steel Corporation, Nippon Steel, SteelAsia, and MMT, the event facilitated meaning discussions on enhancing productivity and energy efficiency within the steel sector.
Further strengthening engagement, MMT hosted a collaboration meeting with the Steel Flat Sectors at Solaire Resort in Parañaque. Key players—including Puyat Steel, DN Steel, Union Galvasteel, Sonic Steel, Colorsteel, and Galvaphil—participated in discussions focused on reinforcing partnerships and exploring avenues for collaboration. Ronald Magsajo, PISI president, emphasized the importance of collective efforts in driving industry growth.
MMT also co-organized the 2025 PISI Golf Tournament last 11 March at the Riviera Sports and Country Club in Silang, Cavite. The event brough together over 150 representatives from the steel sector and related industries, providing a valuable opportunity to network, exchange ideas, and discuss business challenges in a more leisurely setting.
During the event, Geraldine Santos, MMT commercial head, was recognized for her significant contributions to PISI, underscoring MMT’s dedication to supporting key industry initiatives and cultivating long-term partnerships.
Actively engaging with industry stakeholders, MMT continues to play a vital role in driving collaboration, innovation and sustainability within the steel sector.
