MMT, COSCO strengthen ties

Manila Multipurpose Terminal (MMT) hosted a port visit by delegation from COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers last Monday, January 26. 

Zhang Chi, COSCO general manager, met with Mikkel Puyat, MMT chief executive officer, who led the group on a tour of the Manila International Container Terminal, North Port and MMT. The visit provided COSCO representatives with a clear view of the terminals’ capacity, layout and day‑to‑day operations. 

Mr. Puyat also briefed COSCO on ICTSI’s 10 Philippine terminals. He outlined locations, service capabilities and operational strengths across the archipelago, including facility‑specific handling expertise and supporting technology. 

MMT and COSCO discussed potential collaboration, including future calls to the Philippines. The talks reflected interest in creating opportunities to expand trade routes and strengthen cooperation in maritime logistics.
