MICT strengthens risk, insurance compliance
The MICT Civil Works and Global Corporate Risk Management departments recently held a workshop to improve risk management and ensure insurance compliance for civil works projects.
The session, conducted on May 23, 2025, focused on ICTSI’s Global Insurance Program. Topics included Terminal Operator’s Liability, Port Property Insurance, Political Violence Coverage, and Business Interruption Insurance. Project-specific insurances and bonds for current and future projects were also discussed.
Participants reviewed the claims process, operational deductibles, and the importance of preventive measures such as regular maintenance and safety training. Presenters outlined necessary claims documentation and shared best practices for handling third-party incidents and liabilities.
The workshop was led by Joaquin Mantecon, Global Risk Management director, and Mai Lyte Lopez, Global Corporate Insurance manager. It was attended by personnel from the MICT Civil Works Team and Global Procurement, demonstrating a coordinated effort to protect company assets.
The session highlighted the importance of proactive risk management and improved interdepartmental collaboration to strengthen understanding of insurance responsibilities across projects.
