Matadi Gateway Terminal (MGT) continues its support for the local golf community by being one of the major sponsors of the 25th Kinshasa International Open. Held from 15 to 17 September, this year’s tournament marked the 100th anniversary of the Cercle de Kinshasa.

Prior to the competition, MGT organized a golf clinic for children under 12 years old. MGT hopes these activities can help discover new talents and future golf stars. The clinic was facilitated by MGT-sponsored French professional golfers Edouard Espana and Aubin Lacaze.

Mr. Espana has been playing professionally for 10 years and has been MGT’s Brain Ambassador for two years. He ranks 14th in the Challenge Tour and has had a remarkable 11 top-20 finishes. He also finished first and second place at the Open Golf 2021 and Open Golf 2022, respectively.

On the other hand, Mr. Lacaze has been playing golf since the age of five. He joined the Elite group at the Bordeaux-Lac club and took part in the Haribo Kids Cup in Evian, as well as several individual and team French championships. He has also won several Grand Prix events. Mr. Lacaze tied for first place in the Kinshasa 2023 Open after two magnificent playoffs.

MGT also sponsored 17-year old Belgian amateur golfer Savannah de Bock, who won her first international championship at the age of 12. She has since shone on the green with performances that made her a six-time Belgian amateur champion and placed her at the 40th rank in the WAGR.

MGT is proud to support young players to emerge and win major prizes in the international stage
