KMT conducts mangrove planting and beach cleanup
KMT employee volunteers plant mangroves
Kribi Multipurpose Terminal (KMT) commemorated World Environment Day on 5 June by planting mangroves and participating in beach cleanup efforts in Kribi and the surrounding areas.
Mangroves are known for their exceptional ability to capture carbon. Each mangrove tree absorbs approximately 750 kilograms of carbon dioxide over its lifetime, making them an important asset in fighting climate change.
The beach cleanup aimed to reduce pollution and protect marine life. By collecting waste, KMT volunteers contributed to a healthier coastal environment for the local community and the larger ecosystem.
Aligned with this year’s theme of “Land Restoration, Desertification & Drought Resilience,” these activities underscore the importance of sustainable land management practices to ensure planet’s future viability.
KMT fully embraces International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s commitment to the principles of the United Nations Global Compact. Participating in these kinds of activities, along with the utilization of eco-friendly port equipment in daily operations, reflects a broader corporate culture of environmental stewardship and sustainability.
