ICTSI supports disaster risk reduction at 2024 APMCDRR

International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) and its social responsibility arm, the ICTSI Foundation, participated in the 2024 Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) held in the Philippines from 14 to 17 October.

The conference brought together more than 2,000 delegates from governments, civil society organizations, the private sector, and academia to address key areas of disaster risk reduction and management (DRMM). The topics tackled included DRMM financing, advancements in science and technology, resource management, gender-responsive and inclusive governance, multistakeholder collaboration, and private sector involvement. These initiatives align with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.

ICTSI highlighted its efforts in promoting safer, more resilient ports and communities, emphasizing the role of public-private partnerships in disaster preparedness and response.

In September, ICTSI signed a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to support the Philippine government’s hosting of the APMCDRR. The partnership reflects ICTSI’s commitment to collaborative action in building resilience against natural and man-made disasters.

A team from the ICTSI Foundation, ICTSI Global Public Relations and ICTSI Global HSSE departments represented the Company in the conference and contributed to discussions on disaster risk reduction.
