ICTSI Global Procurement conducts refresher seminar

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote operational excellence, ICTSI Global Procurement (GP) recently held a procurement refresher seminar aimed at assessing and improving employees' skills and processes across the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) and corporate offices.

The seminar introduced new procurement fundamentals, refreshed end users on the standard procure-to-pay process and best practices, and updated participants on upcoming changes to the supplier accreditation policy.

Damien Huppert, vice president for global procurement, opened the seminar by discussing the department’s mission, vision, and key pillars, which include change management, category management, Philippine operations, and global procurement back office shared services.

Next, Christian Paul Andre Naval, senior procurement manager for the Philippines, presented on GP operations supporting MICT and corporate offices. Johanna San Gabriel from the project management office introduced “Procurement Four (4) You," which emphasizes early engagement with GP partners, submitting detailed purchase requisitions, and following steps such as sourcing, bidding, and purchase order (PO) issuance.

Mariel Zamora, regional procurement senior director for MICT, Philippines & APAC, along with Mr. Naval, provided a refresher on the standard procure-to-pay process, with a reminder on the Ariba and non-Ariba network registration requirements for suppliers, and addressed frequently asked questions from end users.

Finally, Angelica De Castro, procurement manager for global procurement back office shared services, gave an update on the Supplier Accreditation Policy, effective 1 October 2024, for new suppliers. The update requires verification of a supplier's capabilities to meet business requirements, including legitimacy, technical competencies, compliance, and financial stability.
