ICTSI Foundation advances literacy in Manila’s public schools

ICTSI Foundation continues to improve literacy in Manila's public schools through its ongoing partnership with BINHI English Literacy Foundation.
Recently, IF volunteers and BINHI teachers conducted mid-term assessments of the program's impact. Using activities and reading kits, they tracked students’ progress in recognizing letters, decoding sounds, and reading simple words. The program has shown significant progress, with many students demonstrating improved reading fluency and increased confidence in pronunciation.
The after-school program directly supports the Department of Education's MATATAG curriculum by providing individualized attention and reinforcement in key literacy areas. The five-year partnership between IF and BINHI aims to help 100 Grade 1-3 pupils at P. Guevarra Elementary School and H.J. Atienza Elementary School at the City of Manila improve their essential literacy skills to set them on a path towards lifelong learning and success.
