In a strategic move to drive trade growth and expansion, International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s Ecuadorian subsidiary Contecon Guayaquil S.A. (CGSA) and Wan Hai Lines have finalized the terminal shift for the Asia – South America (ASA) service. The transition not only strengthens Ecuador’s position as a leading exporter of shrimp to China but also enhances the global connectivity of the Port of Guayaquil.

The transition enables the service to capitalize on Contecon Guayaquil’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and streamlined processes. With highly optimized vessel turnaround times and a maximum truck stay of just 30 minutes, Contecon Guayaquil delivers operational excellence, strengthening Guayaquil’s role as a key hub in fostering trade growth between Ecuador and Asia.

“This partnership with Wan Hai for the ASA service reinforces our role as enablers of commercial growth. At Contecon, we go beyond expectations: we innovate and lead to strengthen trade between Ecuador and Asia,” said Javier Lancha, Contecon Guayaquil chief executive officer.

The ASA service, a partnership between Wan Hai, Evergreen, Pacific International Lines, Yang Ming and COSCO Shipping Lines, handles 40 percent of Ecuador’s maritime trade with Asia.
