Colima Governor Indira Vizcaíno visited Contecon Manzanillo (CMSA) last 19 May, a recognition of the port operator for its continuing investment and efforts to generate jobs in the region.

“The investments that are coming from Contecon in the State of Colima will not only pay off by spurring economic growth in the region but also by providing quality jobs for the residents of Colima, which fills us with satisfaction,” said Governor Vizcaíno, who was accompanied by Colima Economic Development Secretary Rosi Bayardo and Manzanillo Port System Administration Head Alm. Salvador Gómez Meillón.

“The Port of Manzanillo is the center of transformation and engine of economic growth that we have to continue promoting together with the companies so that, together, we can reverse inequalities,” the governor wrote on social media regarding her visit to CMSA.

Governor Vizcaíno also said CMSA’s social responsibility agenda shows that the company’s commitment to the Colima community and the environment has been satisfactory.  She thanked CMSA employees and hopes “examples like this can last and expand in the State of Colima.”

This year, CMSA received its third consecutive certification as a Socially Responsible Company.  CMSA is also working on a modernization plan that aims to increase the port’s efficiency and the terminal’s capacity by 300,000 TEUs between 2022 and 2024.

Mr. Contreras thanked the governor for visiting and getting to know CMSA up close.  He also reiterated the company’s confidence in Colima and commitment to further invest in the region to generate job opportunities and inspire economic growth.
