For the third consecutive year, Contecon Manzanillo (CMSA) handed out scholarships to deserving primary school students with outstanding grades in the State Knowledge Olympiad organized by the Mexican Ministry of Public Education.
Known as the Excellence Scholarship, the grant is designed to support sixth-grade students in Manzanillo. To date, around MXN570,000 pesos in scholarships have been awarded to help ease the financial burden of families who need to buy books, shoes and school uniforms for their children.
José Antonio Contreras, CMSA chief executive officer, led the scholarship awarding ceremony together with Francisco Santana, CMSA environmental, industrial and physical safety manager and CSR manager; Juan Carlos Salas, CMSA human resources director; and Sandra Alcaráz, CMSA social responsibility leader. The event was attended by Maestro Rodolfo Nuñez, Colima secretary of education and culture.
“We are proud to contribute to the education of the children of Manzanillo. We hope that students in the region will continue their educational development and that our support will serve as a tool to ensure students in the region maintain their academic performance,” said Contreras.
The scholarship is given to students who obtained an average between 9.5 to 10 in the State Olympiad exam. This strict requirement ensures that beneficiaries are chosen fairly and transparently.
