The organizers revealed the event details during a press conference on 17 September, highlighting the primary objective of promoting the sporting spirit of the community and contributing to the city’s development by allocating 100 percent of the registration fees to charitable work in support of education. The press conference was spearheaded by José Antonio Contreras, CMSA chief executive officer; Francisco Santana, 7th Charity Run operational director; César Romero, CIMA Group chief executive officer; Carla Román, Logística Woodward representative; Yohana Huezo, TAP terminal representative; and Fu Hua, COSCO Shipping Lines general manager. All residents of Manzanillo were invited to participate in the race, which, in addition to being a healthy competition, is a recreational opportunity for families.

“We thank all the companies that have supported us from the beginning, as well as the major foreign companies that have joined and recognized the importance of these events for one of the most important ports in the country, like Manzanillo,” said José Antonio Contreras.

He added: “We are proud to organize this race, which promotes sports and strengthens our community. Additionally, we will launch an exclusive challenge for sponsors this year in recognition of their essential cooperation, which is key to the success of this sports event.”

The race sponsors for this year are CIMA Group, Logística Woodward, TAP Terminal, COSCO Shipping Lines, Grupo Indi, Grupo Alianza Estratégica Portuaria, Mediterranean Shipping Lines, CROM, APR Cargo, Grupo Hazesa, BBVA, SACSA, CAD, Skechers, Impala Terminals, Integrace, Lubtrac S.A. de C.V., CYOPSA, Gamo Accesorios y Maquinaria, Suministros de Insumos Nacionales, CMA CGM, Mexproud Shipping, TRACSA, Publicenter, Hisense Monterrey, Evergreen Shipping Line, ESGARI, Welldex, Grupo Uni-Trade, Benito Abad y Cia, Grupo Selome, Inla Suppliers, Cableado Estructurado y Telecomunicaciones, Grupo Silca, Henco, Grupo Delmex, Imaginativa, Powerade, La Marina, Progressa, Salon de Eventos Marbella, Italika, and DIMEO.

Approximately MXN316,200 in prizes will be awarded to the winners of each category. The previous races attracted people from other states, contributing to local tourism. This year’s event is expected to surpass the amount raised in 2023, with funds from registrations going towards renovating classrooms, building cafeterias, rehabilitating lightings, and other improvements to elementary school facilities across the region.

“We have high expectations for this edition and the future ones, anticipating a significant increase in the number of participants. This growth will allow us to extend the benefit to more schools and students. Each registration is an opportunity to improve educational facilities, providing children and young people with adequate space to learn and grow. We are confident in surpassing last year’s goal, which in 2023 raised MXN1,643,877,” said Francisco Santa.

The godmother of this year’s race is Itzia Garcia, who represented the state of Colima at the Miss International 2023. The race is designed for people of all ages, offering a healthy and enriching experience.

“This collaboration is very import to us. We want to increase this type of partnership in the business field to jointly convey values to society,” said Fu Hua.

“We have a purpose and shared mission: to help promote the values of sports in families and education in Manzanillo. We hope more people will join us to continue promoting these values, which will contribute to the education of children and young people who will be the future business leaders of our great port,” said César Romero.

Carla Roman and Yohana Huezo expressed their gratitude for the invitation, highlighting that this type of event promotes sports and leaves a positive impact on the community and Manzanillo. They also emphasized that education is the most important thing and extended an invitation to participate, thanking the organization for involving them in this noble cause.

With these actions, CMSA and the sponsors involved strengthen their commitment to the community so that more children could have access to adequate school facilities, leading to quality learning and academic development.
