CMSA boosts capability with new equipment

Contecon Manzanillo (CMSA) is expanding its port equipment fleet with the recent acquisition of two Kalmar RTGs and 15 Terberg terminal tractors.

The new equipment were delivered on January 17 as part of the company’s USD230 million expansion project for 2022. Announced last December, the equipment fleet expansion will address the increasing volume at the Port of Manzanillo.

“The two Kalmar yard cranes and the 15 state-of-the-art Terberg yard/terminal tractors will not only increase operational capacity, but also offer greater reliability, lower fuel consumption and higher levels of comfort and ergonomics for their operators,” said José Antonio Contreras, CMSA chief executive officer.

Aside from making the terminal operations more efficient, new equipment is a pivotal step towards CMSA’s modernization and goal of adding 300,000 TEUs to its annual capacity by 2024.

The facilities expansion, on the other hand, is scheduled to commence in the second half of 2022.
