Javier Lancha de Micheo, Contecon Guayaquil (CGSA) Chief Executive Officer, has assured officials of Ecuador’s Interior Ministry that the company remains firmly committed to its role as one of the country’s strategic partners.
In a meeting last July, Mr. Lancha met with General (SP) Patricio Carillo, Minister of Interior, and Colonel (SP) Freddy Ramos, Vice Minister of Interior, who visited the terminal together with representatives of the National Customs Service of Ecuador (SENAE).
Mr. Lancha led the visitors on a tour of CGSA, and also discussed the company’s financial and logistical investment over recent years, including the USD3.5 million for infrastructure, equipment and support for the intensified operations of the National Anti-Drug Investigation Directorate. In February, CGSA signed a 10-year collaboration agreement with Ecuador’s national police to further enhance security at the Port of Guayaquil. CGSA is the first port operator in the country to implement a private assistance program for the national police.
“CGSA remains committed to its role as a strategic partner of the state. We will continue to work closely with the National Police and all stakeholders for the benefit of the logistics chain and to improve the competitiveness of Ecuador’s foreign trade,” said Mr. Lancha.
CGSA’s top executive also guaranteed that all the necessary procedures are being carried out to comply with the new regulations set by the SENAE for the implementation of noncompliance inspection technologies at the terminal.
