Contecon Guayaquil (CGSA) continues to consolidate its position as a leader in port services innovation with the signing of a commercial agreement with Cool Carriers for the construction of the first cold storage facility within an Ecuadorian port. The milestone marks the start of Bodega Fria – Guayaquil Banana Gateway, a new service under the Contecon Plus portfolio.
The new service will speed up landing times and while maintaining the quality of products. It will also generate significant savings in mobilization costs. Facility construction began in April and will be operational by September 2024.
“The construction of the cold storage facility represents another milestone for CGSA as it is the first terminal in Ecuador to offer this service. Cool Carriers will be the first customer to leverage the temporary banana storage services in our facilities, which will significantly reduce time and costs for banana exporters,” explained Javier Lancha, CGSA chief executive officer.
A world-renowned operator of specialized refrigerated vessels, Cool Carriers operates a fleet of 50 ships designed for the controlled transport of perishable fruits.
This new achievement underscores CGSA’s unwavering commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, and to advancing Ecuador’s logistics chain.
