ICTSI Foundation aids families displaced by Taal unrest

The ICTSI Foundation, in coordination with Bauan International Port, Inc., mobilized aid for displaced families in Batangas due to the elevated unrest of Taal volcano.

On 5 July, Filipina C. Laurena, ICTSI Foundation Deputy Executive Director, and Yehlen Dela Luna, ICTSI Foundation Accounting Head, led the turnover of 4,000 chicken meals and 2,000 bread and biscuit packs to the Batangas Provincial Welfare and Development Office, which facilitated the centralized distribution of relief goods across the province.

The Foundation returned to the province on 7 July to turn over 1,000 packs of rice, 1,000 food packs containing assorted groceries, and 24,000 pieces of 500-ml bottled water.

The donations were distributed to evacuees from the towns of Balete, Agoncillo, and Laurel.

Thousands of Batangas residents had taken refuge in evacuation centers after the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) raised the alert level on Taal volcano in July. The Philippines' second most active volcano had a mild eruption in January last year, which also prompted the evacuation of thousands of residents from nearby towns.
